Llama
carting or llama driving is a great use for llamas! If you
don't have the time to llama cart, I don't recommend getting
started. It is highly addictive! The llama in the picture is
Eagle.
He was an intact male and loves what he does (as you can
tell by the picture)! When this picture was taken he had
only been carting for about 10 months. The first
picture is Eagle and I at the 2000 ALSA Nationals in
Columbia Missouri. This picture was taken during the
pleasure driving class. Eagle won the class out of 12 llamas
and earned the title of National Grand Champion Driving
Llama 2000. Needless to say I was just a little excited. All
four of Eagle's national champions were earned in large
divisions and many of the current national driving champions
were in his classes. Eagle and I
won the ALSA National Driving Champion again for 2002, 2003
& 2006 in Lincoln Nebraska. There were 10-12 llamas (the
first few years) in the classes each year and he performed
beautifully with his gait changes, backing and other
requests. In 2006 Nationals added Obstacle Driving and we
won that too! Eagle is the ONLY llama to win driving at the
Grand Nationals four times in full class competitions. We
were very proud of him! (this is the second and third
picture) Eagle is the top driving
llama of all time. To this day, no llama has been able to
perform at the level and precise quality he did. He could do
lead changes, walk, trot and lope in a figure eight and his
transitions were smooth. He was the best! He has 7 offspring
that are exceptional driving animals and his half brother is
also an amazing driver. Eagle's contribution to driving with
llamas can not be emphazied enough. The Eagle
Cart we use is powdercoat painted, the shafts remove (stems
that go between the llamas body) for show travel, the seats
are waterproof marine fabric (come in red, purple, black and
hunter green), wood flooring, backrest, wheel axel flips for
added height for taller llamas, large wheels for going on
uneven surfaces, back bumper guards to protect the seat and
much more! For order information, contact Rod
& Rezina Zeiler
of Montana.
