Biography on *Sipan
By Kay Sharpnack
September 2006

*SIPAN was chosen in 1997 as a yearling in Peru by Kay as part of her 1997 Peruvian Selection.  He looked as though he would have it all.  As *SIPAN grew and matured he more than lived up to all expectations &endash; total elegance, correct conformation, style, and lovely fiber.

*SIPAN was first shown by Kay at AgFest, Salem, Oregon in 2001. He was named Champion Medium Wool Male by Carol Hicks and Hank Kauffman, who also gave him Overall Grand Champion Male.  He then went on to the 2001 Grand National where he won first place in a class of 26 Adult Males and was named National Grand Champion Medium Wool Male by Jody Robinson, Cathie Kindler, and Ray Howard.

*SIPAN is the first and only imported male (to date) to be named a National Grand Champion in any Halter Division.  Following in his footsteps was son MARIELL, unanimous 2003 Grand National First Place winner in the Yearling Medium Wool Male class, followed by taking 2003 National Reserve Grand Champion Medium Wool. MARIELL would have been a serious contender for the Grand in 2004 had he not met with an untimely death.

*SIPAN's  prepotence for type, quality, presence, style, and low micron count fleeces are evident in his many winning offspring at all levels.
